Frequently Asked Questions
Who do you work with?
I work with adults (ages 25+) who want to heal chronic pain, mindbody symptoms, trauma, or anxiety. I am licensed in Colorado and can only conduct sessions when you are present in Colorado.
Are you a medical professional?
While I am a healthcare professional with postgraduate training in treating mindbody illness/psychophysiologic disorders, I am not a medical professional and do not provide medical services or medical treatment. I strongly recommend that all of my clients work with a board-certified medical professional to ensure that all medical concerns are adequately addressed. While many clients do choose to work with me to address symptoms that medical approaches have failed to resolve, counseling is never a substitute for medical treatment, and I expect all of my clients to communicate clearly with me about what their medical professionals have advised about their health, treatment, and any restrictions such as diet or physical activity. I am more than happy to collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure every client gets the best care possible, so please ask me if you would like me to do so.
Are sessions covered by my insurance?
I do not accept Medicaid. I cannot work with you if you are currently enrolled in Medicaid.
I do not accept Medicare. If you have Medicare, you will be required to waive your insurance coverage for our sessions and pay out of pocket.
I am in-network with many private insurance plans (listed below.*) Your responsibility for payment will vary depending on your particular insurance plan. If you choose to seek out-of-network insurance reimbursement, I can provide you with a super bill you can submit to your insurance provider to attempt to receive out-of-network reimbursement.

How long do counseling sessions typically last?
After your free phone consultation, sessions are 45-90 minutes long depending on the type of therapy.
What happens during the first session?
During the first 1-3 sessions, we’ll discuss what brings you to therapy, agree on goals, and answer any questions you may have about beginning therapy.
How do I know if I really need counseling?
If struggling with chronic pain, mindbody symptoms, trauma, or anxiety is getting in the way of you living the life you want to be living, it’s worth giving counseling a chance.
How often will I need to come to counseling?
Most clients see me on a weekly basis. Research shows that lower frequency attendance produces poorer results. Therapy is an investment in yourself and your well-being, and you’ll make more progress by making time for it in your schedule.
How long will I need to come to counseling?
Clients usually notice small changes within two months, and 6-12 months usually helps make long-lasting changes in your life. If we’re not continuing to make your life better, we’ll finish our work together.
How much do sessions cost?
Your initial phone consultation is free. If we decide to schedule a first session, my fee is $170 for a 60-minute session. The fee is the same for in-person therapy and teletherapy sessions. Since 2022, the No Surprises Rule requires that all healthcare providers give healthcare recipients who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for services to be rendered. More information on the Good Faith Estimate can be found at the bottom of this page.
What methods of payment are accepted?
I accept credit/debit cards, personal checks, or cash.
Do you have weekend appointments available?
No. My schedule is Monday through Friday.
Do you have evening appointments available?
No. I do not see clients in the evening. I may, later this year, introduce an evening group therapy experience. Please let me know if you would like to be added to the information update list for any such opportunities.
Where do sessions take place?
In-person sessions are in Denver at 899 Logan Street, Suite 309. For teletherapy sessions, clients may join from anywhere in Colorado with an appropriate private space and computer/tablet connected to high-speed internet.
What if counseling isn't working?
If it’s not working, we change our approach. If we’re still not getting you toward your goals, I will do my best to provide appropriate referrals to other resources and/or clinicians who may be able to help you.
What if I need to cancel our appointment or I get sick?
I have a 48-hour cancellation policy. If you need to cancel for any reason, please give 48 hours notice or you will be charged up to 75% of the session rate. I am happy to switch from in-person to teletherapy so you can keep your appointment, and there is no charge to make that change for the same appointment time. If you are sick, please request a change to teletherapy.
